Why aren't my devices showing up in TMS?

Solution

Because clients can't locate a remote TMS server by magic!  Unless your devices are on the same TCP/IP subnet as the TMS server - in which case they will locate it by detecting periodic broadcasts - you will have to do something to help the TMS agent running on your devices find TMS.  Please read https://help.thinlinx.com/knowledgebase.php?article=10.

If your clients rely upon UDP broadcasts for TMS server discovery - which is the default behavior if no other means of locating TMS has been provided - another possible cause of clients failing to come online in TMS is that there is a second instance of TMS running somewhere that is "stealing" your clients.  This is because when using UDP broadcast discovery, clients will connect non-deterministically to the first TMS server they learn about, depending on which broadcast packet they happened to receive first.

If you want to prevent interference from unauthorized TMS instances, please read https://help.thinlinx.com/knowledgebase.php?article=73.
