TMS 8.4.5

Solution

TMS 8.4.5

Bugs fixed

  • license usage information no longer appears (except for TLX1000)
  • the Load Configuration window lacks a filter option for device comments
  • Enter Comment command lacks an audit message
  • no audit message is logged when disabling the PXE Server
  • TMS might crash when attempting to configure a device's display layout (especially frequent on Linux ports), and will not configure the fourth display output (if present)
  • redirection of a USB serial port doesn't work due to case mistake in device pathname (ttyusb0 rather than ttyUSB0)
  • erroneous authentication error occurs if the licensing password contains a "+" character

New features

  • support out-of-band USB redirection using USBIP, mainly as an alternative to USB redirection in RDP mode, which has significant availability limitations; requires app/driver on the desktop server and direct server-to-client network access, and is mutually exclusive with mode-specific USB redirection (requires tms_client >= 8.4.7 and TLXOS >= 5.0.4/5.2.4)

Other

  • the effect of license revocation has changed such that it now requires less safeguards, so warnings have been reworded, and the ability to revoke licenses for online devices has been reinstated; new revocation behavior is to downgrade the device's license to an expired Trial license
  • removed Printer Description File (PPD) from the list of installable file types; in practice installing only a PPD file is too difficult and/or insufficient (since most printers requires additional filter drivers as well) for the majority of users and use cases
  • removed the Set Client Log Level option; this was deemed to be useless, as tms_client log verbosity is not a space exhaustion risk and the default Debug level is always desirable for troubleshooting
  • changed "Permanent" license to "Paid" license for nomenclature consistency
  • corrected some QT4 and early QT5 compilation problems (mostly academic at this point!)
