tms_client 8.3.0 / Tlxconfig 4.6

Solution

tms_client 8.3.0

Bugs fixed:

  • /etc/openvpn/client missing from /config santization exclusions
  • version 1 of CMD_DEV_BLKDEV_LIST doesn't work (harmless, because nothing uses this yet)
  • AUFS remount attempts occur even when kernel is AUFS-incapable, producing nuisance errors
  • upgrade files remain in /tmp after use, wasting space and virtual memory

New features:

  • support fallback MAC-address-based licensing for PCs with missing or known-non-unique product_uuid
  • support new optional services: insecure VNC server and TMS beacon (requires TMS >= 8.3.0 and TLXOS >= 4.10.0/4.8.2)
  • support editing of /boot/config.txt (requires TMS >= 8.3.0, Raspberry Pi only)
  • load CA certificate used to authenticate TMS from an external file, allowing use of own PKI (requires TMS >= 8.3.0)
  • use external helper to sanitize /config after upgrade (requires TLXOS >= 4.10.0/4.8.2)
  • allow use of JPEG files for client wallpaper
  • add application output logs tarball to logs gathered by tms_client (requires TLXOS >= 4.10.0/4.8.2)
  • add Horizon log tarball to logs gathered by tms_client
  • add /boot/config.txt and /boot/cmdline.txt to logs gathered by tms_client

Other:

  • change default mode from Web to null
  • tms_client now appends to existing log file rather than overwriting it

Tlxconfig 4.6

Bugs fixed:

  • temporary file is not removed after file installation
  • "(None)" is not the default Variant option when selecting a new keyboard Layout
  • incorrect grey-out behaviour for Referent cells in Displays tab
  • incorrect License Action displayed when license is invalid
  • digital signage content synchronization always fails
  • exactly 6 character Restricted Feature Password is erroneously disallowed
  • ds_output1_action is set incorrectly in "Images" case
  • digital signage content synchronization must occur before mode change is triggered
  • digital signage content synchronization fails to signal AUFS UDBA changes
  • UI doesn't show (or save) digital signage Content Source locations
  • UI doesn't show current state of digital signage output selection checkboxes
  • overzealous checks can result in bogus digital signage setting errors when not in digital signage mode
  • unsolicited/bogus "full resolution list may require reboot" popup on first startup

New features:

  • automatically scan for WiFi access points and present results as WiFi SSID pick-list in Network tab; also display access point metadata (channel, signal quality and whether network is open)
  • add option to shut down device on application exit (requires TLXOS >= 4.10.0/4.8.2)
  • add configuration options for optional insecure x11vnc service (requires TLXOS >= 4.10.0/4.8.2)
  • add option to enable TMS beacon (requires TLXOS >= 4.10.0/4.8.2)
  • add option to edit /boot/config.txt (Raspberry Pi only)
  • support fallback MAC-address-based licensing for PCs with missing or known-non-unique product_uuid
  • allow display duration (now renamed cycle time) to be set for Web Content in Digital Signage tab (requires at TLXOS >= 4.10.0/4.8.2 to have any useful effect)
  • add configuration options for optional insecure x11vnc service (requires TLXOS >= 4.10.0/4.8.2)
  • allow use of JPEG files for client wallpaper

Removed features:

  • remove Google Cloud Print (now useless because Google has turned this service off)
  • remove Color Depth options (no longer in TMS, and of very little use)

Other:

  • Raspberry Pi Audio Output behavior change: using a setting other than "Auto/USB" will now force use of internal audio, rather than merely change the internal audio preference when no USB device is present (requires TLXOS >= 4.10.0/4.8.2)
  • display error if user fails to specify any relative positioning in Extend Desktop mode
  • promote TMS more aggressively by starting in the About tab on first run
  • change default mode from Web to null
  • create /root/.local/share if missing to suppress nuisance GTK errors
  • extensive digital signage code simplification

Known issues:

  • RPi/IoT releases not using KMS (Pi v1-3) fail to set an appropriate default resolution
